Why Doller Value Lowers exactly On Adsence Payment Date? I was wondering from last six months that exactly on the date of Adsence payment, doller value lowers, and all other time it goes above 49 INR. I got the answer for this. The answer lies in dollar-rupee calculation. As per the latest data put out by RBI, India’s currency reserves have now declined by $60.44 billion since the end of March 2008, and they are down by $6.04 billion since the end of December 2008.
For the week ended Feb 27th 2009, forex reserves declined by $249 million to $249.27 billion. And why has there been a fall in the forex reserves? Mainly due to revaluation of global currencies like the euro and pound sterling against US dollar, and more importantly, the massive selling of Indian investments by FIIs.
On 7th March 2009, the rupee hit a new low at Rs.51.82 v/s US dollar. So why is the rupee falling? One of the biggest reasons is obviously the selling by FIIs. And why are they selling? Obviously because of the political instability and the reports of soaring fiscal deficit.
And this is important point.
Also forex analysts state that oil refiners are amongst the biggest dollar buyers in the Indian currency market and their demand is especially high towards the end of a month as they make the payments for their imports.
When Rupee is going to appreciate?
The rupee vis-à-vis the US dollar is expected to stay low for some more months now. At least till the elections are over. Only after sentiments improve and India is once again viewed in a positive light, will FIIs come back and start investing. And it is only then that the rupee will appreciate. source

Bloggers holds liability of online content, including whether the author of a blog can be held liable for comments / posts by others. Supreme Court holding that a person who starts a blog/ community page cannot claim that it was a community page and not meant for public consumption.
Irrespective of who writes to the list, we had then considered 'defamation' and clauses of Sec 499, to be the responsibility of the list/page/group/blog owner.
Blooger who are unaware of Sec 499 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) check Sec 499 of IPC
From Times of India
A 19-year-old blogger’s case could forever change the ground rules of blogging. Bloggers may no longer express their uninhibited views on everything under the sun, for the Supreme Court said they may face libel and even prosecution for the blog content.
It will no longer be safe to start a blog and invite others to register their raunchy, caustic and even abusive comments on an issue while seeking protection behind the disclaimer — views expressed on the blog are that of the writers.
This chilling warning emerged as a Bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice P Sathasivam refused to protect a 19-year-old Kerala boy, who had started a community on Orkut against Shiv Sena, from protection against summons received from a Maharashtra court on a criminal case filed against him.
Petitioner Ajith D had started a community on Orkut against Shiv Sena. In this community, there were several posts and discussions by anonymous persons who alleged that Shiv Sena was trying to divide the country on region and caste basis.
Reacting to these posts, the Shiv Sena youth wing’s state secretary registered a criminal complaint at Thane police station in August 2008 based on which FIR was registered against Ajith under Sections 506 and 295A pertaining to hurting public sentiment.
After getting anticipatory bail from Kerala HC, Ajith moved the Supreme Court through counsel Jogy Scaria seeking quashing of the criminal complaint on the ground that the blog contents were restricted to communication within the community and did not have defamation value. He also pleaded that there was threat to his life if he appeared in a Maharashtra court.
A computer science student, Ajith pleaded that the comments made on the blog were mere exercise of their fundamental right to freedom of expression and speech and could not be treated as an offence by police.
Unimpressed, the Bench said, “We cannot quash criminal proceedings. You are a computer student and you know how many people access internet portals. Hence, if someone files a criminal action on the basis of the content, then you will have to face the case. You have to go before the court and explain your conduct.”
So dear readers do not miss use the power of commenting.
The Money crunch in the system has made insurance and mutual fund companies to formulate more and more innovative products.
Today (16 Feb. 09) LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) has launched its new scheme named “Jeevan Varsha” which offers guaranteed return with survival benefit. This plan is launched keeping the success of “Jeevan Aastha “. This money back plan will be available from 16 Feb. 09 to 31 Mar. 09. The term of this policy would be 9 (Nine) and 12 (Twelve) years respectively. One of the most important plus point in this plan in the survival benefit which will give return after every 3 (Three years) which in return will create higher rate of return.
Lets workout “Jeevan Aastha “ in reality,
The Life Insurance Corporation’s (LIC’s) Jeevan Aastha, Religare Aegon’s Life Guaranteed Return Plan and IDBI Fortis’ Bondsurance are some to have hit the market recently.
LIC’s Jeevan Aastha has got the most attention because it has offered 9 percent (Rs 90 per Rs 1,000) and 10 percent (Rs 100 per Rs 1,000) returns for a period of 5 years and 10 years, respectively. “Some investors were in such frenzy that they withdrew from bank fixed deposits to invest in these products,
However, there is a catch in LIC’s return calculations. While other companies have clearly stated that they would give a compounded rate of interest, LIC Jeevan Aastha’s advertisements have put it in rupee terms. What the insurer has not said is that the returns will be based on simple interest.
Let’s look at how this product will work. Jeevan Aastha offers Rs 100 and Rs 90 per Rs 1,000 invested for 10 and 5 years respectively. If a person aged 35 wants a cover of Rs 3 lakh for five years, the one-time premium is Rs 51,930. On death, the family stands to get Rs 3 lakh in the first year. The guaranteed death benefit falls from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 1.09 lakh in the second year and rises marginally to Rs 1.22 lakh in the fifth year.
On survival, the maturity value will be Rs 72,500. So, in effect, the policy-holder makes Rs 20,570 on a premium of Rs 51,930. That means the compounded rate of return is a mere 6.73 percent. For a person, who is 60 years old, the one-time premium is Rs 57,045 and the maturity value is same at Rs 72,500. That effectively works out to 4.83 percent compounded interest.
Compare this with a bank fixed deposit and the numbers are much more impressive. An investment of Rs 51,930 for five year at the rate of 9 percent would give returns of Rs 81,037. That is, Rs 29,107 (Rs 8,537 more than Jeevan Aastha). It’s simply because the interest is compounded. .
From an investment perspective, returns are quite low. Returns of 6-odd percent is worse than what any bank fixed deposit offers. Even Public Provident Fund offers a substantially higher rate at 8 percent.
I have done a mistake with Jeevan Aastha , Not now with Jeevan Varsha again. My learning to this is "Don't mix Insurance and investment".
“Investors need to calculate returns from a product properly before putting in their money,”
Its been long time that I did not thought on Investment and insurance option. Want to make profit out Of Satyam Shares Investment Loss. Everybody is aware of recent Satyam fiasco. I got badly stung and I would like to share my experience so that others can avoid making similar mistakes.
The day Ramalingam Raju resigned, I saw the share price of Satyam tumble from Rs 180 to Rs 90 in a matter of minutes. Now that by itself cannot be a valid reason for the share price to tumble. I became greedy and bought 2000 shares of Satyam @ Rs 90.
Later on in the same day, I learnt that he confessed to committing a series of frauds !!! Now that is something serious. If the profits had been manipulated to the extent of Rs 7,000 Crores over several years, then the real value of the Satyam share should be Rs 10.
Justifiably, the share price of Satyam fell to Rs 10 (or actually to Rs 6.50 also) the very next day and is fluctuating between Rs 20 to Rs 38.
I lost a great deal of mooney in the process. How does one come out of the messy siutation?
The only solution is to sell some shares of Satyam at every rise and buy them back at a lower price. Even if I sell 500 shares every day and buy back at a profit of Rs 2 after deducting all expenses, I make a profit of Rs 1,000 per day. I may not be lucky enough to do it every day so it may take a year to come out of the mess.
The moral of the story: Do not buy shares of any Company based on partial news. Do a complete due diligence and then invest wisely.
Its been long time That I did not do any search on or about insurance and investment, here is one aboutGold Is Fast Emerging As The Safest Asset To Invest Many times wonder with news of recession, attacks by sick people and all. But for a common man like me; its hard hitting by recession as have put some money in Stock when the stock market was at its peak level, Well I did not follow warren buffet that time, but now I am following his mantra's.
Here is one more digg for your hard earn money to park.
Gold has historically been an excellent hedge against inflation.
Why Gold is safest asset to invest?
The social and psychological repercussions of the Mumbai terror attack, lasting three long days is far reaching. The jewelers were dealing with a situation of lower demand and this has only further compounded the losses.
But on the other hand, gold is fast emerging as the safest asset to hold during the current troubled times. Despite the terror attacks, gold prices in the local market have not been impacted. Prices have not been influenced by the attacks as the metal usually shows a downward movement only when faced with larger international crises and possible disruptions to oil supplies. It in fact rallied to a five-week high in the Mumbai bullion market last week at Rs.13,185 per 10 gm on fresh support.

Apart from emerging as the safest asset, this is the peak “marriage” season in India and naturally, demand is fulled also to a large extent due to the season. Marriages are once-in-a-lifetime events, at least for the majority of the Indians. And unless the area is under curfew or there have been losses of lives in the family, marriages are usually not postponed. And if marriages have to happen in India, there is no way buying gold could be avoided. So irrespective of the terror attacks we thus see the prices of gold peaking. No wonder the foreign companies trying to set shop here go berserk trying to understand the psyche of the local people!
If you have money save it in gold,
"Gold is Gold bet"
With shining India Gold is and will continue to Shine.
Also gold jewelery comes with insurance package — Pantaloons ties up with ICICI Lombard
Here is investment Life cycle and observations about stock and gold.
- 1970s were great for gold, but terrible for stocks.
- The 1980s and 1990s were wonderful for stocks, but horrible for gold.
- As of 2008, this decade has been a good one for gold, and an unfavorable one for stocks.
bottom line is Gold is A Safest Investment Option and Excellent Hedge Against Inflation.

Views on the Indian tech industry:
It's a topic that has been oft debated - that
Here's how Indian IT companies operate (Infy, TCS, wipro and the second string such as mastek, satyam, patni etc). Hire engineers in bulk, never mind that they are not computer scientists or electrical engineers - if they can write a few lines of code in C/C++ and are academically decent, they're hired . After all, they dont need brilliant engineers - just people who will do as they are told and reasonably intelligent enough to get the client's work done, and bullshit their way out of it if they don't. They'll rarely make CAD software for Electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. Instead they will develop "end to end solutions" for banking, finance, inventory management, website development, etc. By develop I mean code, not design - there is a huge difference between the two, something which I will touch upon shortly. One important thing to note is that the HR in most IT companies dont give a damn about individual interests. They will put you wherever they need someone to slog for them. I've had one HR person tells me that they will put me in a project where they get maximum money, regardless if I am interested or not. And they wonder why so many people leave!!!
What is the nature of the work? At least 70% of the international projects in most indian IT companies is maintenence - i.e someone else has already developed an application. All you need to do is add more features/change behaviour as per client's request . Then there's production support, which is worse. It is almost call-center work - ensure that the application runs normally and if it fails, get it up and running ASAP. Take calls from the client, update on the status. In a sense, like a car mechanic - I didnt get an engineering degree to be a car mechanic - I got it to design the car! Finally, if you are lucky you get development - write code. But then, writing code is easy - it is like manufacturing a car. What is not, is designing a system that works efficiently. Typically, foreign clients get the design done by the likes of Accenture, IBM, etc. The designs are then sent to desi companies, who actually do the coding at a cost much cheaper than IBM or accenture. Thus, all we do is donkey work. It is not technology - it is programming. Technology is a new idea, paradigm or design - programming is implementing that design. Thus, most of the people in IT waste their engineering degrees, doing mundane programming, until they are made project managers - after which they spend their lives approving timesheets, conducting appraisals and sucking up to the client . Wait a second - shouldnt an experienced IT professional be doing advanced stuff and leave the bullshitting to MBAs?
Why is it so hard for desi companies to do design? The've not tried hard enough (yet) to get into this space. They just dont have the competence to get the job done. Desi companies are amazing at procedure oriented projects - if there is a procedure in place telling us what to do, we can do it. They dont have the experience (and therefore the brand equity) to attract IT consulting projects. Consulting is largely a reputation driven business. In order to build such a reputation, desi companies need to hire high-flying consulants - they dont come cheap. Even after all this, there is no guarantee of results! (Lately, Infy is trying to get into this space, I'm told, so good luck to them. I dont think TCS is though :-)) How many software products come out of Indian cos? IFlex is the only company to have a product successful worldwide. Making products is expensive and again, there is no guarantee of success - why risk it when services give me an assured income?
Why do we need to get into high end IT - consulting and products? Simply because the algorithm of low cost, low margin services will run it's course in the future. As payscales rise in
. Indian companies thus have 2 choices - identify and set shop in countries where the low cost, low margin algorithm can be applied (TCS seems to be taking this route) or enter into high end IT, which is independent of geography (Which Infy is trying). I believe the latter is the better route - it is a high margin business and reasonably high tech. What is even better, is coming up with technology - like Java, efficient databases, advanced operating systems (Like Sun, Oracle or Microsoft). That is real tech. It's not that we can't do it. It's just that we dont want to risk it. But, nothing venture, nothing have! Desi companies’ dont even do proper R&D!
Finally, a true story. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) was huge in the chip manufacturing industry, making almost 60% profit. They could have got into chip design, and potentially, designed low cost chips. However, design is a risky business - what if the chip bombs? TSMC chose to stick to it's core competence - fabrication. In time, TSMC's profits have declined to 20% or so... they're still number one, but don’t make as much money as they used to... Are we learning yet?
PS: Work at TCS drove me so crazy; I quit to do a PhD :-)

COMPLETE REVIEW
Sequels are dicey business. No matter how much you improvise on your new script, you cannot escape comparisons. And when you attempt a sequel of a critically acclaimed film that's a huge box-office grosser as well, it's akin to walking on a tight rope.
Most importantly, post Ramgopal Varma ki Aag, Ramgopal Varma was everyone's favorite punching bag (till Tashan dethroned RGV ki Aag) ?Finished?, ?spent force?, ?has-been?, ?Pack up? were commonly used terms for RGV.
Now here's great news! Sarkar Raj supersedes the prequel and most importantly, RGV bounces back like never before. If you felt Shiva and later Satya were his finest efforts, you've got to watch Sarkar Raj. An outstanding film in all respects, this film has all it takes to emerge a major success story at the box-office? and a landmark film in everyone's careers.
When Anita [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, an international company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra before the Nagres, insightful Shankar [Abhishek Bachchan] is quick to realise the benefits the power plant can bring to the people.
After convincing Sarkar [Amitabh Bachchan], who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilise support from the masses.
However, things are not what they seem to be and Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield. The evil forces, mightier than ever, mushroom and gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.
Sarkar Raj exudes a lot of power from the word 'Go'. But let's not categorize Sarkar Raj as yet another ?political film?. Emotions and relationships run concurrently in those 2+ hours. What works in favor of Sarkar Raj is its tight writing. It's not difficult to decipher the power play, but more importantly, there's meat in the script. It leaves you awe-struck as the plot thickens. The film throws a number of surprises, but the best is reserved for the penultimate 20/25 minutes. The culmination to the story is simply fantastic!
RGV shines like never before. He takes to SARKAR RAJ with a vengeance. He has to prove that the sequel is better, he has to prove the detractors wrong too. While RGV has handled the subject with great expertise, you cannot ignore a few scenes that leave a lasting impact... Ash's first meeting with the Bachchans to explain the power project. Govind Namdev trying to bribe Abhishek. The Bachchans' visit to Dilip Prabhawalkar's residence. The Bachchans' discussion over Kay Kay [who was shot dead by Abhishek in the prequel]. The turning point in the film [not to be disclosed]. The penultimate reels when the real culprit stands exposed. It hits you like a ton of bricks.
Besides its strong content, Sarkar Raj has been filmed exceptionally well too. In fact, the film has the trademark RGV stamp in every sequence.
The review would be incomplete without giving the due credit to writer Prashant Pandey's incredible and almost flawless script. Amar Mohile's background score is topnotch. The by-now-famous 'Govinda' chant in the background only enhances the impact. Amit Roy's cinematography is exceptional. The DoP succeeds in giving the film the raw-n-rustic look, which works very well. Action (Allan Amin), in minimal doses, is perfect.
Sarkar Raj is embellished with superb performances! Amitabh Bachchan, expectedly, comes up with a terrific performance. He's as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.
First Yuva, then Guru, now Sarkar Raj. Abhishek Bachchan is cast opposite the finest actor of this country, yet he sparkles in every sequence.
This time, the father and son go neck to neck as far as acting honors go. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is fabulous and delivers her career-best performance in Sarkar Raj. Enough has been written about her looks, but not much space has been devoted to her performances. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Provoked, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar and now Sarkar Raj - she's only got better with every film.
Every supporting actor in Sarkar Raj stands out - Dilip Prabhawalkar [superb], Govind Namdev [first-rate], Sayaji Shinde [perfect], Ravi Kale [terrific] and Supriya Pathak [good]. Tanisha is alright. The actor enacting the role of Dilip Prabhawalkar's grandson makes a strong impact.
On the whole, Sarkar Raj is an exceptional film in all respects. At the box-office, it has all it takes to set new records in days to come!Read Sonia Chopra's review of Sarkar Raj
